Executive Director, Selina J. Shultz, Esq, LL.M.
A highly experienced conflict and organizational consultant, Selina has spent over twenty years, serving as a Mediator, Consultant and Coach, Trainer, Facilitator and Contract Ombudsman.
She is equally equipped to provide mediation services to individuals in civil and divorce disputes, as she is to provide trainings, conflict culture interventions, and leadership development to corporations and nonprofits which are struggling with conflict. She has mediated hundreds of cases in the course of her career and worked with organizations such as FedEx, Home Depot, Nevada OSHA, AMG Research, and Allies for Children.
Honed from her early years concentrated as a divorce mediator, Selina’s strength is successfully navigating conflict and mediating cases with ongoing relationship dynamics whether in families or businesses. Whether working with a divorcing couple, an employee, a business owner, or a developing leader, she has great skill at meeting people where they are and empowering them to move forward in a more positive direction.
Her years of practical hands on work in mediation is further supported by her academic work in both Decision Making, Neuroscience, and Negotiation. Her process and approach to all of her work, including the space she has created at The Conflict Lab, are constantly mindful of how to bring about her client’s best thinking.
With an ability to understand complicated conflict dynamics and how to improve them. Selina provides “Conflict Culture Interventions” to organizations who suffer from the effects of an unhealthy work environment. These customized interventions, with the right combination of individual coaching, training, team building and policy changes, systematically improve a workplace. The result: employees enjoy coming to work again.
Selina is a leader in the field of conflict navigation and dispute resolution, active both locally and nationally in supporting efforts to promote thoughtful approaches to conflict. She is skilled at bringing about people’s best thinking and developing leaders who are conflict competent.
Passionate about teaching, Selina provides both basic and advance mediation and conflict competency trainings, having provided trainings both locally and internationally for organizations and corporations, as well as at the law school level at The Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University School of Law, Duquesne University School of Law, and The Saltman Center at The UNLV School of Law.
Although from the outside her work may appear quite varied,to her it is all fits neatly within her simple mission of helping people and organizations “do conflict better” so they can reach their full potential.
With her husband Robb, she has raised three adventurous children, Seth who lives on an island, Sophi who is studying to be a doctor, and Chloe who is an artist (responsible for much of the art in The Lab). They keep her honest in her mission to approach conflict well…happy to give some constructive feedback… and all four have taught her much about living, laughing, and being authentic.
